Constitution Articles : 2005-2006Article 1:Name of OrganizationThe name of this organization shall be the Community Development Student Group or the CDSG. Article 2:AffiliationsCommunity Development Student Group is affiliated with the School of Urban Studies and Planning and the College of Urban and Public Affairs. The CDSG is a member of the Undergratuate Executive Committee of the School of Urban Studies and Plannnig.The Community Development Student Group is a academic organization associated with the the Community Development program at PSU. The Community Development Student Group is the institution that houses the Community Investment Commitee. Every year the CDSG is a member of the Coalition of a Livable Future. Article 3:PurposeOur group’s mission is to enhance the student experience and facilitate community building, collaborative learning partnerships, and service opportunities that encourage inclusion, leadership, and empowerment. Our projects develop members’ capacity for civic engagement through student group activities such as community meetings, student-organized conferences, forums, workshops, service projects, and field trips. Article 4:MembersThis student group is open to any student, but is mainly composed of Community Development majors and people interested in social justice, alternative economics, urban studies and planning, community health, community education and awareness, participatory decision making/democracy, and facilitation. Section 1Any currently registered student at PSU may become a member of this organization. Any student wishing to become a member of this organization may do so by providing the organization (secretary or President) with the student’s name and current mailing address, email, or phone number. Once this information is received, the student shall become a member with the same privileges which are held by all members. A student maintains member status as long as the student is registered at PSU. Section 2If non-student community members wish to be active with the group, they may do so as a non-voting member. Section 3All voting members and officers of Community Development Student Group must be currently enrolled students at Portland State University and pay student fees. Section 4Membership shall not be denied to any student on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, and disabled veteran or Vietnam era veteran status. Article 5Elections/OfficersSection 1Elections, officer positions, and election process may be determined by a majority vote of members present at any meeting. Section 2All officers of Community Development Student Group must be currently enrolled students at Portland State University and pay student fees. Section 3Officers shall not be on disciplinary probation or have a cumulative GPA below 2.5. Article 6MeetingsSection 1Meetings may be called by the Co-Chairs. Meetings are at least bi-weekly and additional meetings will be called as needed. Section 2Community Development Student Group meetings will strive to follow the formal consensus model to make decisions. The governing text will be On Conflict and Consensus. Section 3Quorum consists of four or more members. Article 7Referendum, Recalls and Impeachment proceduresReferendum, recall and impeachment procedures may be formed when a majority of the members deem it necessary. Article 8AmendmentsThis constitution may be amended by a majority vote of all membership Community Development Club. All amendments must be made by by the initial budget request of every CDSG year. Student Development Advisor must approve all amendments. Article 9Ratification
