2006 Enterprise Community Development Internship ProgramThe School of Urban Studies and Planning at Portland State University is pleased to announce the 2006 Enterprise Community Development Internship Program. Students may apply to work with organizations and agencies engaged in community development activities and who also apply for a matching grant to pay an intern stipend. The stipend will cover 100-200 hours of work by upper division or master level Community Develop majors at approximately $10 per hour. Please complete and return the attached application before May 25. If you have further questions, please contact Dr. Richard White. The Enterprise Foundation is interested in CD activities related to housing issues, but there is some latitude in defining housing-related activity. In 2004-2005 students completed projects that included: outreach and marketing, homebuyer outreach initiatives and program development, special event organizing, research on small business incubator development, and strategic planning research. All with Community Development Corporations that had a substantial housing component. The previous year, students completed projects that included: tenant services program refinement, small business research, computer learning center development for low-income housing development, homeownership initiatives, child care/home center feasibility study, special event coordination, community outreach, and homebuyer education / outreach. So, there is some breadth of opportunity that includes community asset-building related to a variety of community development initiatives. The Enterprise web page references IDAs, Child Care Tax Credit programs, Green Building, training programs, research, community outreach, coalition building, and policy development. The major criterion is some connection to housing or work supported by traditional CDCs. This may include support, research, outreach, and other forms of organizational and other community asset building activities. All interested students are encouraged to apply or contact Dr. White at whiter@pdx.edu for more information. Please put “enterprise internship” in the subject line. Use the applications below: |
